44 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Eldoret-Nakuru Highway

One person has been confirmed dead, and 44 others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway on Saturday morning. 

Among the vehicles involved was a Simba Bus, which was ferrying passengers when the accident occurred near the Twin Bridge area on the busy highway.

Volunteers and emergency rescue teams quickly responded to the scene, working together to free those trapped in the wreckage and transport them to nearby hospitals. 

The Kenya Red Cross, which was among the first to respond, confirmed that 44 people were injured. 

Fourteen of them were rushed to Molo Sub County Hospital, while another 30 received treatment at the accident site.

The accident reportedly occurred around 3:30 am when the bus driver lost control while trying to avoid a collision with two lorries. 

The bus veered off the highway, rolled over, and landed in a ditch, trapping several passengers inside.

Rescue efforts were ongoing, with police on the scene managing traffic and coordinating the road clearance once all trapped passengers were safely rescued. 

This incident marks the second accident on this stretch of road within a week, following a previous accident that claimed 13 lives.
