Uasin Gishu: Two Dead After Drowning In Dams

Two individuals under the age of 25 have tragically lost their lives in separate drowning incidents within Uasin Gishu County.

The initial incident occurred in the Kimuri area, where a young male domestic worker drowned while attempting to rescue a sheep that had fallen into a nearby dam.

In another unfortunate event in the Cheptiret area, a man reportedly removed his clothes and entered a flooded dam, resulting in his demise.

Wanyama Sitati, the head of the county’s fire department, confirmed the retrieval of the bodies and their transfer to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in Eldoret.

Sitati also emphasized the importance of caution, urging residents to steer clear of flooded areas during the ongoing rainy season.

Woman Arrested For Hacking Husband In Siaya

In a distressing incident at Abimbo village in South Sakwa, Siaya County, a 45-year-old man, Samson Atunda, finds himself recuperating from severe facial injuries at the Bondo sub-county hospital. 

Allegedly, these wounds were inflicted upon him by his wife, Shaniz Achieng, who purportedly attacked him with a machete while he was asleep. The grim occurrence, reported by Assistant Chief Collins Waganda to the authorities at the Amoyo police base, unfolded on Monday evening.

According to reports provided by Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, Atunda suffered a deep facial laceration due to the assault. 

Prompt response from concerned neighbors led to his swift transfer to the hospital, where he remains in a serious condition. 

The gravity of the situation prompted the neighbors to apprehend Achieng, though she was later handed over to the authorities at the Amoyo police base for proper handling.

Furthermore, the police investigation uncovered a blood-stained machete at the scene, which was secured as evidence.
