Tragedy struck in Siaya County as a 36-year-old woman lost her life due to a gold mining shaft collapse.
The incident occurred in Ramba ‘A’ village, North Rama, Rarieda Sub County.
Authorities were alerted to the disaster when an official from the mining company reported it to Ndori Police Station.

According to preliminary investigations, the collapse occurred around 10:40 am on Thursday, trapping two women, Roseline Adhiambo and Jane Akinyi, beneath the rubble.
Prompt action by fellow workers at the site led to the swift rescue of both women. However, despite efforts to save her, Roseline Adhiambo succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at Lwak Mission Hospital.
Following the tragic event, the authorities processed the scene meticulously, while the deceased’s body was transported to the same hospital for a postmortem examination.
