In a tragic turn of events in the Biretwo area of Elgeyo Marakwet County, a middle-aged man, identified as Boniface Kokwon, reportedly took the life of his wife, Ivy Chelagat, in a brutal manner. 

The incident, which occurred on a Saturday morning, sent shockwaves through the community as residents witnessed the horrifying scene unfold before their eyes.

According to accounts from witnesses, Kokwon’s actions stemmed from a deep-seated anger fueled by suspicions that his wife had committed theft from his shop. 

Allegedly, Chelagat exacerbated the situation by purportedly starting her own shop just a hundred meters away. 

This perceived betrayal seemed to have triggered a violent response from Kokwon, leading to the fatal assault on his wife.

Simon Kiplagat, a local businessman, recounted the harrowing sight of discovering Chelagat’s lifeless body, with Kokwon clutching a knife nearby. 

The use of a large stone as the murder weapon further underscored the brutality of the attack.

Following the incident, law enforcement swiftly intervened, arresting Kokwon and detaining him at the Iten Police station. 

The swift action by authorities aims to bring justice to the victim and ensure accountability for the perpetrator.
