Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, has issued a stern warning to officials of the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) allegedly involved in corrupt practices related to the distribution of subsidized fertilizer.

Sudi highlighted a troubling situation at the Lessos NCPB, where farmers are reportedly forced to offer bribes in order to access government-subsidized fertilizer.

He criticized the exploitation of farmers by individuals within the system, emphasizing the efforts made by the government to ensure access to essential agricultural inputs.

“The president cannot work tirelessly to provide us with fertilizer only for unscrupulous individuals within the cereals board to demand bribes for its distribution.

This must cease, particularly at Lessos,” Sudi asserted, issuing a clear warning against such practices.

The issue is compounded by long queues at NCPB outlets, which have led farmers to resort to paying money to expedite the receipt of subsidized fertilizer.

This added financial burden further exacerbates the challenges faced by already struggling farmers.

Joining Sudi’s call for action, Kesses MP Julius Ruto urged the government to address the shortage of subsidized fertilizer promptly.

The statements by Sudi and Ruto underscore the gravity of the situation, highlighting the need for immediate intervention to curb corruption within the distribution system and ensure equitable access to subsidized fertilizer for all farmers.
