Justice Ngugi emphasized that marital discord motivated Samuel Njoroge to orchestrate the crime, further noting the prosecution’s evidence proving the involvement of Joyce Njambi and Wilson Mungai.
Their roles, including the purchase of sulfuric acid and presence near the crime scene, were solidified by mobile phone data records, forming an indisputable chain leading to the guilt of all accused parties.
The tragic events unfolded on January 24, 2018, in Kiambu County when Lucy Nyagiko was kidnapped from her home, raped, doused with acid, and left for dead in a coffee plantation near Kamiti corner along the Ruiru-Kiambu road.
Despite being rescued by a Good Samaritan and receiving initial treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital before transfer to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Lucy Nyagiko succumbed to her injuries on January 26, 2018.
Former Riruta Ward MCA Samuel Njoroge was revealed to be Lucy Nyagiko’s estranged husband, with the court informed of their marital history.
