General Ogolla himself had chosen the specific location for his resting place. He wished for a simple burial ritual, akin to Muslim customs, opting to be wrapped in sheets rather than placed in a coffin.

This choice was made to lessen any unnecessary burden on his family.

Despite the simplicity of the burial arrangements, other Luo traditions will be respected. Canon Oduor extended a warm invitation to those who wish to mourn with the family, either in person or in spirit, ensuring that there will be enough food for all visitors.

Peris Onyango, the general’s sister, shared that her brother had always been prepared for death.

He would often discuss the details of his desired burial with her during his visits, even though she tried to dissuade him from such thoughts.

General Ogolla’s readiness for death stemmed from his awareness of the reality of his profession, as he faced danger regularly in his line of duty.

Ms. Onyango added that the news of her brother’s sudden passing has left the community in disarray, as General Ogolla was known for his philanthropy and generosity.
