Highlighting the intensity of the situation, Omanyo described heated confrontations within the committee, fueled by bribery attempts.
Despite these pressures, she maintained that some members resisted compromise, refusing to succumb to unethical influences.
Omanyo underscored the gravity of the allegations against Linturi, particularly regarding the fake fertilizer scandal, asserting that he should not have been absolved of blame.
Linturi’s survival in the impeachment process, with seven out of eleven committee members voting in his favor, sparked outcry among opposition MPs who alleged bribery.
Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo raised concerns about corruption within the committee, suggesting a referral to the powers and privileges committee for investigation.
However, Speaker Moses Wetangula dismissed these allegations, insisting on evidence before casting aspersions on colleagues.
