The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is investigating an alleged fraud involving a Kenyan woman accused of defrauding a foreign national of Ksh.25 million in a scheme resembling a 419 scam.
Faith Mwikali Ndiwa’s arrest followed an incident in May 2022 when she approached the CEO of Guarantee Trust Bank, claiming she had Ksh.70 million in her account and sought financial advice.
The CEO, the complainant in the case, provided advice and suggested Ndiwa make her own decisions.

Days later, Ndiwa returned requesting money to pay for her mother’s medical bills. When questioned about the Ksh.70 million, she claimed to have bought a house in Karen.
Convinced, the CEO advised her to visit the bank, where she received an eight million Kenya Shillings loan.
A month later, Ndiwa contacted the CEO again, claiming to represent Raila Odinga and having secured a Ksh.19 million tender to supply Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) to the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).
She presented tender documents and claimed Raila Odinga’s son-in-law had already paid Ksh.8 million, but the balance was needed to clear the nets at Mombasa port.
She promised the complainant a share of the profit once KEMSA paid for the tender, convincing him to deposit funds into her accounts.
Investigations revealed that one account belonged to Al Husinaim Motors Limited, where Ndiwa acquired a new Range Rover.
After the transaction, Ndiwa switched off her phone, prompting the complainant to report the incident. Preliminary investigations confirmed the KEMSA tender was fake.
