Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah has disclosed that President William Ruto reached out to him earlier this week with an offer for a position in the Cabinet.

Speaking at the burial ceremony of Henry Ongoma, brother of former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, Wajackoyah revealed that he declined the offer, expressing his dissatisfaction with the way the Kenya Kwanza administration is managing the country.

Wajackoyah recounted that he received a phone call regarding the ministerial position but firmly rejected it, advising the caller to offer it to someone else.

“I have been offered to be a minister. I told Ruto, ‘pack your position, give it to whoever wants it and go to hell with it. I don’t give a damn. I’m very bitter today,’” he declared.

This revelation comes just days after President Ruto dismissed his entire Cabinet, retaining only Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Ruto is now in the process of assembling a new Cabinet, promising that it will reflect the will of the people and serve as the face of Kenya.

“You all saw what I did this week so that I remake this government well. This will allow us to unite Kenya,” Ruto stated, emphasizing the need to harness every opportunity to build the economy, create jobs, manage debt, and combat corruption.

Deputy President Gachagua echoed Ruto’s sentiments, highlighting that the new Cabinet should be free of arrogant individuals more focused on politics than serving Kenyans.

“We are supporting you 100% in your decision to disband your Cabinet to reconstitute a new one that will help you work for Kenyans,” Gachagua remarked.

He expressed the need for a team that prioritizes efficiency and harmony, assuring Ruto of their total support as he forms a government that puts Kenyans first.

The Cabinet reshuffle follows increasing pressure from the public for accountability and good governance from the Kenya Kwanza regime.
