ODM Leadership Condemns Disruption of Kalonzo’s Speech by Goons

Division within the Azimio Coalition has deepened following chaotic events at a recent meeting held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation grounds. 

During the gathering, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka was prevented from speaking by disruptive individuals. 

Despite being designated to announce meeting resolutions, Kalonzo Musyoka and his entourage were abruptly interrupted by chants and forced outbursts, which also targeted journalists covering the event.

In response to the disturbance, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna expressed regret over the incident and condemned the disruptive behavior.

He pledged to take action against those responsible and ensured measures were being taken to support journalists who were roughed up during the chaos.

Following the disruption, Azimio initially suspended proceedings but later issued a statement outlining key resolutions from the meeting. 

Notably, the coalition reaffirmed its stance against participating in any broad-based government proposed by President William Ruto, post nationwide demonstrations.

Additionally, Azimio demanded justice, calling for the immediate apprehension of rogue police officers involved in violence against peaceful protesters since June 18, 2024. 

They also sought government compensation for victims of police brutality and coverage of all hospital bills for those injured in police shootings.
