Abel Mutua has come under fire on social media for allegedly exploiting his position as a scriptwriter to orchestrate a kiss scene with actress Sarah Hassan, known for her role as ‘Tanya’ on the popular TV show “Tahidi High.” 

The controversy stems from Mutua’s remarks during an appearance on the Mic Cheque Podcast, which was posted on September 6, 2023.

In the podcast episode, Mutua admitted to deliberately setting up the kiss scene. He referred to Sarah Hassan as “mpolite,” describing her as laid-back and calm. 

When one of the podcast hosts, Chaxxy, asked if Hassan had refused him, Mutua responded affirmatively, boasting about ensuring the kiss happened in the show’s very last episode. 

He recounted, “The very second last scene of my episode on the show, nilimpiga mate kwa class. Nilimkiss mbaya.” Mutua justified his actions by asserting that the script mandated the kiss, implying that Hassan had no choice but to comply. He stated, “Sasa unakataa na script ndio inasema? That was very intentional.”

This admission has led to widespread condemnation, with many fans and followers expressing their disappointment and anger towards Mutua, labeling his behavior as unprofessional and unethical. 

The backlash intensified after a video clip of the podcast resurfaced and went viral on social media platforms like X.

Additionally, during the podcast, Mutua reflected on the success of “Tahidi High” and shared a personal anecdote about being assaulted by a fan. 

He remarked on how passionately viewers took the show, saying, “Kitu ilikuwa inanifascinate is the fact that wasee walikuwa wanaichukulia hiyo show very personal.” 

Despite these reflections, the focus remains on the serious allegations of misconduct, overshadowing any positive reminisces about the show.
