Baba Kaunty Exits Obinna Show

Comedian Baba Kaunty has made the tough decision to step away from The Obinna Show, bringing an end to his tenure on the popular Monday program.

His departure comes just months after fellow comedian Dem Wa Facebook left, marking another significant shake-up for the show.

Why Baba Kaunty Left The Obinna Show

In a candid YouTube video, Baba Kaunty—formerly known as Mama Kaunty—opened up about his exit, clarifying that it was purely his own decision and not a result of any internal conflicts.

It was my own choice. No one decided for me. It was a critical and tough decision. I’ve been thinking about it since the year began, but I didn’t know how to approach Obinna,” he explained.

The comedian cited scheduling conflicts as one of the main reasons for his exit, revealing that he is currently undergoing a training program that coincides with the show’s airing on Mondays.

There are things I wanted to do every Monday, and the show also airs on the same day. I’m currently in training for about three to four months, and balancing both has become difficult,” he added.

Praising Obinna & Addressing Exit Rumors

While some speculated that Baba Kaunty was fired, he firmly dismissed these rumors, stressing that he left on good terms.

Sometimes it’s not easy to say goodbye… But kuna watu watasema nilivutwa. It was actually a shock for Obinna. I wrote him a letter and explained my reasons. Even Omosh called me several times, but I couldn’t respond because it was a heavy decision for me,” he shared.

He also had nothing but praise for Obinna, describing him as a great mentor and brother who provided invaluable opportunities.

Obinna took me in like a brother. His platform is the best for mentoring, and you learn a lot when you are there. The management is serious, but I was never under any contract. We were just supporting each other as brothers.”

Pamela Takes Over His Role

Before his departure, Baba Kaunty took it upon himself to find a suitable replacement for his role. He reached out to Pamela, a comedian who had previously appeared as a guest on the show, believing she was the perfect fit.

I knew I was leaving, so before I wrote that letter, I contacted Pamela. I felt she was a good fit, and maybe it was God’s plan to give her this opportunity through me.”

Pamela has since taken over, serving drinks to the host and guests during the show, a role previously held by Baba Kaunty.

Future Plans: Baba Kaunty’s New Ventures

Following his departure, Baba Kaunty is shifting his focus to new projects, particularly his initiative to work with children in Kibera. Through his foundation, Baba County Initiative, he aims to create content that uplifts and inspires young talents.

I have a foundation called Baba County Initiative, and this year, I want to create content with kids in Kibera. I also plan to take some courses to further my personal and professional growth,” he revealed.

A Gracious Farewell

Despite leaving The Obinna Show, Baba Kaunty remains supportive of the program and wishes the team continued success.

Whether I’m there or not, the show must go on. I just told Obinna I wish him well,” he concluded.

As he embarks on this new chapter, fans can look forward to seeing Baba Kaunty make an impact through his foundation and creative endeavors.
