On Wednesday, April 10th, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) apprehended three individuals believed to be members of a gang that had been instilling fear among Nairobi residents.
According to a statement released by the Directorate, one of the suspects was captured in the Kilimani area of Nairobi.
The operation was the result of meticulous forensic analysis of evidence gathered from various armed robbery incidents across Nairobi and its outskirts, spanning from 2023 to the present.

Subsequent to the arrest, the suspect led investigators to his hideout in Athi River, where his two accomplices, a 34-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man, were discovered.
Upon conducting a comprehensive search of the premises, law enforcement recovered several items, including a Czeska pistol loaded with 7 rounds of ammunition, as well as two sets of motor vehicle number plates registered as KBB 0Z and KDE 3Q.
Additionally, assorted motor vehicle parts, numerous sim cards, mobile phones, laptops, an iPad, logbooks for vehicles registered as KCE 1W and KCQ 3A, wristwatches, and ATM cards from various banks were seized as evidence.
Four vehicles parked at the residence were also impounded for further verification.
The suspects are presently in custody at Pangani Police Station, where they are undergoing processing for arraignment on Thursday, April 11th, 2024.

In another recent operation targeting criminal gangs nationwide, DCI officers conducted a raid on Tuesday, resulting in the arrest of multiple suspects and the recovery of a pistol stolen from a police officer during a violent incident in Vhiga in December 2023.
During the operation, one suspect engaged the officers in a gunfight and was fatally shot on the scene.

Additionally, a vehicle believed to have been used in criminal activities and various other items suspected of being stolen were confiscated as evidence.
The deceased suspect’s body was transferred to the City Mortuary for identification, while two of his associates remain at large.
