- Facing accusations of ethnic division, undermining the presidency, and corruption.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is scheduled to hold a press conference on Monday evening, just hours before the National Assembly debates his impeachment motion.
According to an invitation sent to media houses by his office on Monday noon, the address will take place at his official residence in Karen at 7 p.m.
This announcement comes at a critical time for Gachagua, as he faces a motion for removal from office.
He has been accused of dividing Kenyans along ethnic lines, undermining the presidency, violating his oath of office, and contravening the National Cohesion and Integration Act.
The impeachment motion, introduced by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse on October 1, lists several accusations against Gachagua.

Following its tabling, the motion proceeded to public participation across all 47 counties, after garnering the support of 291 lawmakers in the National Assembly.
Gachagua is expected to stand trial on Tuesday, where his defense will be led by seasoned lawyer Paul Muite as they argue his case before the MPs.
