The move by the DPP drew criticism from netizens who accused Joe and his crew of betraying Ballo.

Addressing the accusations, Joe, also known as Joseph Mwenda, spoke to Milele FM’s Ankali Ray, asserting that people were quick to judge without understanding the complexities of the situation.
He emphasized that the matter was sub judice and therefore inappropriate to discuss in detail at the moment.
Despite the allegations and public scrutiny, Joe reaffirmed his friendship with Hype Ballo when questioned about being labeled a snitch by netizens. He remained unperturbed, stating that he and Ballo were still on good terms.
With his legal troubles resolved, DJ Joe Mfalme expressed his intention to return to work with renewed vigor.
He acknowledged the ordeal as a learning experience and emphasized the importance of moving forward.
