Former MP Aspirant, Militonic Mwendwa Arrested for Impersonating EACC Officials

On Saturday, Militonic Mwendwa Kitute, a politician, was apprehended for conning Kenyans while impersonating officials from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). 

Kitute was found to be issuing fake Integrity Clearance Certificates to job seekers for a fee, all while using the identities of high-ranking EACC officials.

The man, described as “armed and dangerous,” has a criminal record and previously ran unsuccessfully for a parliamentary seat in the 2022 general elections.

EACC detectives tracked Kitute from Nairobi to his home in Kitui, where he was arrested early on Saturday morning. Authorities confiscated a firearm and seven mobile phones from him during the arrest.

Kitute was then taken to Kilimani Police Station and is scheduled to appear at Milimani Law Courts on Monday, April 22. 

His arrest marks a significant step in curbing fraudulent activities that exploit the names of official institutions.
