In an unprecedented turn of events, over 50,000 Kenyans participated in an X space dedicated to the recent arrests and alleged disappearances of influential X personalities. 

Spearheaded by prominent figures like Amerix, known for initiating ‘Masculinity Saturdays’, the space boldly criticized the government and police for arresting vocal online personalities involved in the Occupy Parliament movement.

A major focus was on the arrest of @CrazyNairobian, also known as Billy the Goat, a highly respected figure with 403k followers. 

Initially reportedly held at Muthaiga Police Station, conflicting reports and unsuccessful attempts by friends to locate him intensified concerns and demands for transparency.

During the X space session, Amerix and Osama Otero demanded clarity on Billy’s whereabouts and reasons for his arrest, while condemning government officials and demanding accountability. 

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot were among leaders present, facing sharp criticism for alleged corruption and disconnect from public hardships.

The session saw contentious interactions, including Amerix’s public rebuke of Cheruiyot and Murkomen’s assurances of support without specific details on Billy’s situation. 

The session also witnessed the expulsion of figures like Andrew Kibe and President William Ruto’s account, reflecting heated sentiments surrounding the Finance Bill 2024.

Dennis Itumbi later shared insights on Billy’s arrest, acknowledging allegations of threatening messages and advocating for free speech despite personal disagreement with the arrest. 

He emphasized the judiciary’s role in determining such cases, critiquing what he termed as unnecessary and misguided arrests of public critics.
