However, President Ruto’s remarks have sparked discussions about the implications for Gachagua’s political future, with speculation arising that Ruto might be considering a shift towards nominating a female deputy presidential candidate for the upcoming 2027 elections.
Addressing a gathering in Embu on Friday during an event commemorating International Women’s Day, Gachagua openly acknowledged his endorsement of the idea, advocating for greater representation of women in governmental roles.
The Deputy President clarified that Ruto’s remarks should be understood in context, indicating that any implementation of the proposed idea would occur only after Ruto’s second term in office. He downplayed speculations of a rift with the President ahead of the 2027 polls.
