Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has strongly criticized Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru for her recent remarks concerning Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. 

Wamuchomba argued that Waiguru lacks the moral standing to lecture leaders from the Mt. Kenya region, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by the area under Waiguru’s leadership. 

She pointed to economic struggles and incomplete projects as evidence, accusing Waiguru of defending the Kenya Kwanza government despite these issues.

Wamuchomba’s response came swiftly after Waiguru’s comments on Monday, May 20, where she suggested that individuals holding public office, such as the deputy president, should not personalize their roles. 

Waiguru indirectly criticized Gachagua and his allies, asserting that it’s wrong to stigmatize others who aspire to become deputy president. 

However, Wamuchomba countered, questioning Waiguru’s authority to lecture on Mt. Kenya affairs given the region’s challenges and her role as the chairperson of the council of governors.

The MP emphasized that while Waiguru was abroad with President William Ruto, the focus in Mt. Kenya had shifted to the “one man, one vote, one shilling” debate, highlighting a diversion from the current governmental issues.

Additionally, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga chimed in, cautioning against undermining Gachagua within the Kenya Kwanza government. 

Kahiga hinted at potential discord between Ruto and Gachagua, asserting that the Mt. Kenya region would not tolerate mistreatment akin to what Ruto allegedly faced in the previous administration.
