The announcement of Henry’s resignation was confirmed by his advisor Jean Junior Joseph in a statement to CNN, emphasizing that Henry would continue in his position until the formation of a new interim government.

The news of Henry’s resignation was echoed by Guyana leader and current Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) Chairman Irfaan Ali during a press briefing on Monday, March 11. 

Ali, alongside other Caribbean leaders, expressed gratitude to Henry for his service to Haiti and stated that Henry would step down once a new interim premier is appointed.

The transitional government, according to CARICOM leaders, will focus on facilitating an election and ensuring a peaceful transition of power. 

Their primary mandate is to establish a governance structure that promotes stability, continuity, and adherence to the rule of law. 

The statement released by CARICOM outlined the commitment to a transitional governance arrangement aimed at paving the way for free and fair elections while addressing immediate security concerns.
