Acting Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille has arrived in Kenya for a four-day state visit, marking a key diplomatic moment between the two nations.
Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi officially welcomed him at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday.
During the visit, Conille is expected to engage in high-level bilateral talks with President William Ruto.
These discussions will focus on enhancing security cooperation and building partnerships aimed at promoting regional stability between Kenya and Haiti.
Mudavadi emphasized the significance of the visit, noting that it represents an important step in deepening diplomatic ties.
“This visit by H.E. Dr. Conille is a pivotal moment in our relationship, with both Kenya and Haiti keen on exploring new areas of collaboration, especially in economic development and security,” Mudavadi stated.
Accompanying Mudavadi at the airport were Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua, National Security Advisor Dr. Monica Juma, and Butere MP Tindi Mwale.
Conille’s visit comes in the wake of a tragic event in Haiti. Just days before, a massacre in Pont Sonde, northwest of Port-au-Prince, left at least 70 people dead.
Gang members reportedly opened fire on residents, torching houses and vehicles in an attack that has shaken the Caribbean nation.
