“My father is a teacher at Mavoko Boys Secondary School and my mother is a businesswoman selling lab equipment,” Njoroge stated.
The dialogue continued with an officer asking, “Where did you train?” to which Njoroge replied, “I have not trained.”
“Where did you learn to hit an officer?” the officer pressed further.
“I have never hit an officer before. Today was my first time,” Njoroge admitted.
Amid their tense exchange, the officer questioned where Njoroge found the courage to hit a police officer, prompting him to reveal the reason behind the altercation. “I was just angry. We were not understanding each other because he wanted a lot of money which I could not get…” Njoroge began, but was quickly interrupted by the interrogating officer asking, “What are you saying?”
The officer then instructed Njoroge to insult himself, saying, “Sema wewe ni wazimu (Say you are a fool),” to which Njoroge complied, “Mimi ni wazimu kabisa (I am a fool).”
Another officer added, “Wewe ni ng’ombe (you’re a cow),” and the interrogating officer concluded with, “Mbwa wewe, unaskia (You are a dog, you hear me?).”
