Reporting to: Planning, Design and Construction Manager.

Job Grade: Eldowas Establishment Grade 8

Job summary:

To ensure timely and economic maintenance and installation of all electrical/ mechanical equipment, including civil works.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Provide timely economic and reliable maintenance services, identity maintenance requirement and an effective planned maintenance schedule drawn up; ensure that causes of breakdowns are identified and corrective action is initiated.
  • Ensure that policies, procedures, methods and programs for the agreed preventive maintenance are fully adhered to including reviewing and updating of the same.
  • Ensure timely and economic completion of maintenance projects by planning scheduling and establishing the most effective method or procedures and communication the same to the teams concerned.
  • Ensure economic and timely availability of maintenance or installation facilities and equipment, ensure that all the necessary tools and machines for efficient service are available,
  • Ensure that corrective and preventive maintenance practices and procedures are understood and applied,
  • Ensure availability of quality spares and maintain spare re-order levels.
  • Ensure safe working environment
  • Prepare budget proposal for the section.
  • Carry out routine of maps and other technical documents, including engineering drawings.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and keeps records.
  • Supervise, appraise, train and motivate the staff in the Section

Knowledge and Skills Required:

The jobholder must possess;

  • Bachelor’s Degree. (Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering) with 6 years’ Experience
  • Should have thorough knowledge of the relevant industry/sector as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the relevant sector;
  • A registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and a corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Kenya (IEK) with good standing
  • Must have ability to plan, organize, implement and evaluate assigned goals;
  • Must demonstrate ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities, and work under strict deadlines;
  • Should have strong analytical and be result oriented;
  • Must have high standards of integrity and ethical practice;
  • Must be capable of functioning effectively both as a team player and a team leader;
  • Must have management skills;
  • Must have ability to accurately plan work assignments, prioritize tasks and deliver deadlines;
  • Should have problem solving and decision-making abilities;
  • Should be an effective communicator with the ability to handle both internal and external communication;
  • Should have effective people management and conflict resolution skills;
  • Must have knowledge in use of MS office packages.
