Originally scheduled for Friday, March 8th, the sentencing was deferred due to various factors, including the belated submission of critical documents and a change in Jowie’s legal representation.

However, today’s hearing is expected to provide closure to a case that has gripped the nation’s attention.

Last month, High Court Judge Grace Nzioka found Joseph Irungu guilty of Monica Kimani’s murder, a heinous crime that occurred in her Lamuria Gardens apartment in Nairobi on the night of September 19, 2018.

The court’s ruling was based on the prosecution’s presentation of substantial evidence, convincingly establishing Jowie’s culpability beyond a reasonable doubt.

Throughout the trial, the court was presented with extensive testimony and evidence linking Jowie to the crime scene, as well as establishing a motive for the murder.

The verdict represents a significant milestone in a case that has garnered widespread public interest and scrutiny across the country.

Notably, former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe, who was also charged in connection with the murder, was acquitted of the murder charge by the court.
