The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the reopening of the placement portal, allowing KCSE 2023 candidates to review and revise applications made earlier this year.
In a notice dated Wednesday, March 19, the KUCCPS revealed that the portal would cater not only to candidates who had previously submitted applications but also to those who missed the initial application window.
The portal will remain accessible until April 4, 2024, providing ample time for candidates to make necessary adjustments to their applications.

The reopening of the portal targets applicants who have not secured any of their choices submitted earlier, as well as KCSE 2023 examination candidates with grades of C+ and above who did not apply for Degree Programmes during the previous application period.
Additionally, individuals who sat for KCSE exams between 2000 and 2023 and are yet to join tertiary institutions are encouraged to utilize this opportunity to select courses at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide.
Candidates who previously applied are advised to check the status of their applications through the student portal at students.kuccps.net. If unsuccessful, they can reapply based on their KCSE results and the cutoff points.
Those applying for the first time can also access the student portal to submit their applications.
Agnes Mercy Wahome, CEO of KUCCPS, highlighted concerns regarding the low number of students opting for TVET courses. Despite 688,591 students qualifying for TVET courses, many focused solely on degree programs.

Furthermore, Wahome noted discrepancies in course offerings, citing examples such as the absence of Irrigation System Installation courses and outdated media and communication programs lacking drone photography or videography components.
The reopening of the portal aims to address these issues and ensure students make informed choices regarding their tertiary education.
