The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President, Faith Odhiambo, has strongly condemned the brutal abduction of a Mombasa-based blogger, criticizing the country’s leadership for its failure to uphold human rights.
In a statement released on Monday via X (formerly Twitter), Odhiambo highlighted the ordeal faced by the blogger as indicative of a larger governance crisis in Kenya, marked by a disregard for humanity, rights, and conscience.
“This heart-wrenching account of Bruce John’s ordeal reveals the deep flaws in our country’s leadership, where the sanctity of life, rights, and liberty is ignored,” Odhiambo stated.

She described the criminal behavior and impunity shown by those in power as “indefensible” and called for accountability for those involved.
The LSK has urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to swiftly identify and charge the individuals responsible for the heinous acts.
They also demanded that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) bring those responsible to justice.
Meanwhile, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has expressed his dismay at accusations linking him and his family to the abduction and sodomy of the blogger, who had reportedly criticized the county government.
The 24-year-old blogger was allegedly abducted on September 12 by a group of around 20 county officers from his home in Bamburi, assaulted, and sodomized before being dumped.
The blogger claimed that his captors forced him to apologize for criticizing the Mombasa County government.
In a press conference, Governor Nassir distanced himself from the attack, describing it as “shocking” that he and his mother were accused of involvement.
He emphasized that neither he nor his family had ever resorted to violence and condemned the baseless allegations.
Nassir’s remarks came shortly after the release of his aide, County Executive Committee Member for Lands Mohamed Hussein, who had been arrested in connection with the assault.
Nassir expressed frustration at the situation, stating that his aide was arrested simply due to their close political association.
The governor also mentioned that his mother’s house had been broken into twice since the incident, and while he expressed sorrow for what happened to the young blogger, he maintained that his family would forgive and move on.
He concluded by calling on the authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter, adding that he was committed to clearing his family’s name and ensuring that those responsible for the false accusations are brought to justice.
