The reigning champions are eyeing their third consecutive African Games title, having clinched victories in Rabat, Morocco in 2019, and Brazzaville, Congo in 2015.

Their quest for glory is bolstered by the arrival of Veronicah Adhiambo, an outside hitter, who joined the team’s intensive training sessions just hours after being released by her Turkish club, Tarsus Belediyespor.

Adhiambo’s presence is expected to provide invaluable strength and experience to Malkia, especially after their setback against Egypt in the CAVB Zone V Qualifiers earlier this year.

However, Malkia will have to navigate the tournament without Sharon Chepchumba, the 2023 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Most Valuable Player, who is still recuperating from a knee injury sustained in December.

The team finds itself in Group B alongside Algeria, Nigeria, Seychelles, and DR Congo.
