Man in Meru Brutally Kills His Father, Stepmother Before Surrendering To Police

Police in Buuri East Constituency, Meru County, are currently detaining a 35-year-old man who stands accused of brutally murdering his own father and step-mother in a horrific machete attack. 

The assailant, identified as John Mwongera, allegedly carried out the gruesome killings following a suspected land dispute, as detailed in a police report obtained by Citizen Digital.

John Mwongera is said to have launched a vicious assault on his 67-year-old father, Julius Kirimi, and his step-mother, Eunice Kangai, resulting in their tragic deaths.

The report indicates that Mwongera inflicted fatal injuries on his father, including cuts to his right hand, the right side of his head, left palm, and left shoulder. 

Subsequently, he turned his aggression towards his step-mother, assaulting her with slashes to her left upper hand, neck, head, and right ear.

The motive behind the heinous act, according to the police report, appears to stem from a dispute over land ownership, shedding light on the underlying tensions that culminated in the violent confrontation. 

Following the incident, law enforcement officials promptly responded, visiting the scene of the crime and transporting the deceased to Mwenda Antu Hospital mortuary for further examination and investigation.

Meanwhile, John Mwongera voluntarily surrendered himself at Kiirua police station, reportedly carrying the murder weapon—a machete—used in the fatal attack.
