The driver, Loise Apata, remains at large, but the Mercedes-Benz involved has been impounded by the Nairobi Area Traffic Headquarters.
Their arrest followed comments by Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on social media, where he criticized the car’s owner for the reckless behavior.
Murkomen expressed concern over the vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz E-250 with registration number KCX 959B, owned by James Gathogo Njeri, and its blatant violation of traffic regulations.
He noted the risk this behavior posed to both the men in the car and other road users.

The video, captured by occupants of another car, showed the two men making merry and dancing as the vehicle drove down the busy highway, seemingly unconcerned about the danger to themselves and others. The occupants of the other car tried to warn the two men about their dangerous actions.
This incident adds to the ongoing concern over road safety in Kenya, where there has been a rise in road accidents.
President William Ruto, during the launch of the National Road Safety Action Plan 2024-2028 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre on April 17, emphasized the importance of reducing road accidents and improving road safety.
He directed Cabinet Secretary Murkomen to take action to curb the increasing number of road accidents in the country, urging him to bring down the numbers within the next year.
