Armed with weapons, Osaba was confronted and fatally attacked by the enraged mob.

In addition to his death, the mob set fire to Osaba’s two residences and vandalized other property within his home, including vegetation.

The feud between Osaba and Obula ignited during a funeral gathering in Papa village, where both were assigned specific responsibilities.

Tensions escalated when Osaba, acting as the funeral organizing secretary, clashed with Obula, who was tasked with safeguarding stored food, particularly meat from a slaughtered cow. An altercation ensued, resulting in Osaba fatally stabbing Obula in the stomach.

This deadly encounter was not the first instance of Osaba’s violent behavior, as family members and villagers recalled a previous incident where he had severely injured another villager with a machete.

Despite pleas from local authorities and relatives urging him to surrender to the authorities, Osaba remained elusive.
