The National Olympics Committee of Kenya’s commission and board selected Omanyala and Atuka to carry the flag.
Atuka, 32, will make her Olympic debut after missing the delayed 2020 Tokyo Games due to injury.

Omanyala will make his second Olympic appearance, facing high expectations to win his first medal at the global event.
During the Tokyo Olympic Games, held in 2021 due to COVID-19, former Kenya Sevens rugby team captain Andrew Amonde and Malkia Strikers’ Mercy Moim carried the Kenyan flag.
Team Kenya will be captained by Shujaa co-captain Tony Omondi and two-time Olympic 1500m champion Faith Kipyegon.
Shujaa was the first team to arrive at the Olympic Village on Friday, followed by the Malkia Strikers on Sunday.
Team Kenya comprises 79 athletes who will represent the nation at the Summer Games, officially set to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
