The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) has issued a warning regarding a batch of substandard Sure lubricated condoms, urging immediate action to mitigate potential health risks.

The batch in question, labeled Batch No. 2405055, was manufactured by Indus Medicare Private Limited.

In a statement released on Wednesday, PPB’s CEO, Dr. Fred Siyoi, explained that the recall was prompted by the condoms’ failure to meet quality standards during a critical “freedom from holes (conductivity)” test. This failure raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of these condoms in providing adequate protection.

Given this development, Dr. Siyoi advised pharmaceutical outlets, healthcare facilities, healthcare professionals, and the general public to immediately isolate the affected batch.

He urged them to halt the distribution, sale, issuance, or use of these condoms and return them to the nearest healthcare facility or supplier.

The PPB also encouraged the public to report any cases of suspected substandard medicines or adverse drug reactions to their nearest healthcare facility or directly to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
