President William Ruto has extended his congratulations to Donald Trump following Trump’s election as the 47th President of the United States. 

In a surprising and historic win, Trump triumphed over current U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, marking a stunning political comeback that has captured global attention.

In a statement posted on X on Wednesday, Ruto commended Trump for the strong confidence placed in him by American voters, acknowledging his leadership strengths. 

“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Kenya and on my own behalf, I convey to Your Excellency, my warmest congratulations on your election as the 47th President of the United States of America,” Ruto expressed.

He went on to describe Trump’s victory as a testament to the American people’s confidence in his “visionary, bold, and innovative leadership,” emphasizing the significance of this electoral outcome.

Ruto also highlighted Kenya’s enthusiasm for strengthening its relationship with the U.S., pointing to key areas like trade, technology, peace, and sustainable development as focal points for collaboration. 

“Kenya values its longstanding partnership with the United States spanning over sixty years, grounded in our shared values of democracy, development, and mutual respect,” Ruto remarked. 

“We look forward to deepening our collaboration under your leadership as we work together to address global challenges, promote peace and security, and foster inclusive economic growth for the benefit of our peoples.”

In closing, Ruto offered his personal best wishes to Trump, adding, “Congratulations once again Mr. President-Elect, and may your tenure bring continued progress and unity to the United States of America and strengthen the bonds between our two great nations.”

Trump’s win is remarkable in U.S. history, as he becomes the first president in over a century to secure a non-consecutive second term in office. 

Additionally, he is the only individual elected to the presidency as a convicted felon, with a sentencing scheduled for fraud charges in New York on November 26.

At 78, Trump is poised to become the oldest sitting president in American history, surpassing current President Joe Biden, who will step down in January at the age of 82.
