Ruto praised Raisi’s commitment to the causes he believed in, highlighting his efforts to enhance Iran’s global standing.
Noting the cordial relations between Kenya and Iran, Ruto recalled Raisi’s historic visit to Kenya in July 2023, marking the first-ever trip to Africa by an Iranian President.
“As we condole with the people of Iran, we commend Allah’s mercy and comfort to them,” Ruto stated, offering his support to the grieving nation.
The tragic incident occurred when Raisi’s helicopter made a rough landing in a mountainous area of north-western Iran amid foggy conditions on Sunday.
The President was accompanied by Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other officials at the time of the crash.
After an overnight search in challenging weather conditions, authorities discovered the burned wreckage of the helicopter on Monday morning.
