President Ruto Set to Deliver State of the Nation Address

President William Ruto will deliver his annual State of the Nation Address on Thursday, November 21, as announced by Speaker Moses Wetangula. 

This address fulfills a constitutional mandate for the president to present an overview of the government’s progress toward achieving the country’s foundational values.

According to Article 132 (1) (c) of the Constitution, the president is required to publish this report in the Gazette and submit it to Parliament for discussion. 

Speaker Wetangula shared, “I wish to inform the House that I received a communication from the president conveying that he intends to deliver the 2024 State of the Nation pursuant to Article 132 (1) of the Constitution on Thursday, November 21.”

Wetangula further announced, “I wish to notify all members that a joint sitting of Parliament will take place on Thursday at 2:00 pm in the National Assembly. 

I direct the clerk to ensure the notification of the joint sitting is published in the Kenya Gazette for the information of members and the general public.”

In his address, President Ruto is expected to cover critical topics shaping his administration, such as the Affordable Housing program, Hustler Fund, domestic and external debt, Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), and the university funding model, among other initiatives.
