President William Ruto is set to depart Kenya on Monday evening to attend the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit in the United Arab Emirates, a global forum bringing together world leaders to advance sustainability initiatives.

At the summit, themed “Exploring the Global Energy Transition,” President Ruto will deliver remarks during the opening session, highlighting Kenya’s leadership in renewable energy, particularly geothermal power.

He is also expected to emphasize opportunities for global partnerships to address energy challenges and promote green growth.

In addition to participating in the summit, President Ruto will engage in high-level bilateral discussions with global leaders, including His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

These discussions will center on strengthening cooperation in energy, trade, investment, and technology—key areas of Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

A significant highlight of the visit will be the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Kenya and the UAE. The agreement aims to boost trade, simplify export procedures, enhance market access for services, and stimulate investments across multiple sectors.

The UAE, Kenya’s sixth-largest export market, already imports tea, meat products, fruits, vegetables, and flowers from Kenya. This new agreement is expected to deepen economic ties and expand opportunities for both nations.
