Rift Valley Leaders Raise KSh 6.1m to Take Moi’s Grandson, Gift Moi to India for Treatment

A group of leaders from the Rift Valley region recently hosted a fundraising event to support Kalya Gift Moi, the grandson of the late president Daniel Arap Moi. 

The event took place on Tuesday, April 23, and was led by Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi. 

The purpose of the fundraiser was to gather funds to aid Kalya Gift Moi’s medical treatment, as he requires specialized care in India.

Kalya Gift Moi, a 14-year-old, is battling a rare form of jaw cancer and needs urgent treatment abroad. 

During the event, leaders including Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui raised KSh 6.15 million in just five minutes. 

Oscar Sudi personally donated KSh 1 million, while other notable contributions included KSh 500,000 each from CS Kipchumba Murkomen and Governor Johnson Sakaja, and KSh 300,000 from Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi. CS Chelugui also added KSh 400,000 to the fund.

Faith Moi, Kalya’s mother, had previously made a public appeal for financial help for her son’s medical expenses.
