President William Ruto has adopted a reconciliatory tone in response to criticism from churches and backlash over his significant donations to religious institutions.
Speaking during an inter-denominational church service in Kimana, Kajiado County, the President emphasized unity, assuring the congregation that the state is not in competition with the church.
He urged collaboration among the church, government, political leaders, and communities to drive national development.
“There is no need for division or competition between the church and the state. We are one country,” Ruto stated, calling for collective efforts to achieve progress.
The President highlighted his administration’s commitment to universal health coverage through the Social Health Authority (SHA), aiming to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare for all Kenyans.
He acknowledged that medical bills have pushed many into poverty and vowed to implement measures that guarantee the program’s success.
“We have agreed with county governments and leaders to get it right this time,” he assured.

Ruto also addressed the transfer of Amboseli National Park to Kajiado County, describing it as a step towards correcting historical injustices.
He urged local communities to support conservation efforts and avoid sub-dividing land around the park to protect the ecosystem.
Touching on livestock farming, a key economic activity in the region, the President announced a nationwide livestock vaccination drive scheduled for January 2025.
He pledged to secure markets within the East African Community (EAC) to boost farmers’ earnings, stating, “As I take over the EAC chairmanship, I will work to transform barriers into bridges for regional unity.”
The event was attended by top government officials, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, and several governors, cabinet secretaries, and MPs.
