President William Ruto addressed allegations regarding General Francis Ogolla’s role in announcing the 2022 General Election results during Ogolla’s memorial service at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Saturday, April 20.

Ruto shared that before appointing Ogolla as the Chief of Defence Forces, they had a private conversation about the general election.

Ruto, reflecting on his past experiences at the International Criminal Court (ICC) following the 2007 General Elections, decided to consider Ogolla’s request for forgiveness.

The president emphasized the importance of making careful appointments to sensitive positions such as Police Inspector General, Interior Cabinet Secretary, National Intelligence Service Director General, and Chief of Defence Forces.

He noted that he was advised to be cautious in filling these roles due to their significant influence.

Before Ruto’s remarks, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga spoke at the memorial service, urging Ruto to address the allegations concerning Ogolla’s involvement in the 2022 General Elections at the Bomas of Kenya.
