Sergeant Rose Nyawira, one of the military personnel who tragically lost their lives in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) helicopter crash on April 18, 2024, was laid to rest on Thursday in Kirinyaga County. 

Nyawira was among the nine deceased, which included Chief of the KDF, General Francis Ogolla.

Sergeant Nyawira served as General Ogolla’s photographer and was originally from Kagio town in Mwea West.

Her father, Peter Wachira Kariuki, expressed the preparations that had been made for her burial, noting that many people attended the ceremony at his home in Kagio.

Meanwhile, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Muriithi, another victim of the crash, will be buried on Friday, according to his father, Josphat Muriithi. Kinyua was from Kirimunge village in Kirinyaga Central.

The burial of Sergeant Rose Nyawira took place in Kagio town, Kirinyaga, commemorating her service and mourning her untimely loss in the military helicopter crash alongside General Ogolla.
