Police in Bomet have taken swift action, apprehending seven individuals allegedly involved in a disturbing gang rape incident, which was recorded and disseminated across social media platforms. 

Bomet County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa disclosed that the arrests were made in the Olbutyo area of Chepalungu sub-county. 

Currently, the suspects are undergoing interrogation at the Chebunyo police station in preparation for legal proceedings.

Among those detained are Anderson Mutai, 38, and Weldon Sigei, 21, both identified as participants in the abhorrent crime. 

Ndiwa confirmed the video’s origin, stating it was filmed the previous year and circulated online just yesterday. However, the victim remains unidentified and efforts are underway to locate her.

Despite the absence of an initial report, law enforcement is diligently addressing the situation. 

Ndiwa emphasized the illegality of distributing such disturbing content, underscoring the legal ramifications. 

Furthermore, area chief Edwin Barusei implicated Anderson Mutai as the individual responsible for hosting the incriminating footage.
