The Turkish Football Federation has already taken action, reporting three Fenerbahce players and two club officials to the country’s Professional Football Disciplinary Board for their involvement in the altercations.
Tensions escalated when former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi scored a late winner, resulting in objects being hurled onto the pitch.
Nigeria winger Bright Osayi-Samuel intervened by tackling one of the intruders, while Batshuayi was seen aiming a kick at another.
Fifa president Gianni Infantino condemned the incidents as “absolutely unacceptable,” echoing the sentiments of the Turkish Football Federation, which promised to impose criminal sanctions on those responsible.
Following the clashes, Turkey’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the arrest of 12 fans.
