The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested two Kenya Forest Service (KFS) officers in Garissa for their alleged role in a scheme exploiting casual workers.
The officers are accused of inflating payments to the workers and then demanding the excess amounts be returned to them.
According to EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi, the officers deposited overpayments into the bank accounts of the casual employees under the guise of legitimate compensation.
Afterward, the workers were instructed to withdraw the extra funds and hand them back to the officers.

The suspects, Conservator Elphas Tembu Wesonga and Accountant Ibrahim Aden Hussein, were arrested on Tuesday during an EACC operation.
A total of Ksh.73,000, reportedly part of the day’s collections from the fraudulent scheme, was recovered.
The funds collected were allegedly shared among the officers and their superiors. The two suspects were processed at the EACC’s North Eastern Regional Offices in Garissa before being booked at Garissa Police Station, where they await further legal proceedings.
