This development comes as Wanjigi, a businessman, received a reprieve from the High Court, which issued orders preventing the police from arresting or detaining him.
Justice Bahati Mwamuye granted a conservatory order in response to Wanjigi’s urgent application, directing that he be free from any restraint or arrest until a hearing on August 16, 2024.
Wanjigi had sought this court intervention to block his arrest related to his involvement in the ‘Nane Nane’ protests in Nairobi.
He alleged that the police had used tear gas on him, followed him to his home on 44 Muthaiga Road, and tried to forcibly enter his residence in an attempt to arrest him.
